The Royal York

The Royal York, located at 100 Front Street West, Toronto, opened in 1929 and was billed as the largest hotel in the British Empire. With 28 floors and over 1,000 rooms – each with their own bathroom and shower/tub, this was the elite place to stay. Located across the street from Union Station, the hotel kept a busy pace of new clientele arriving to and departing from Toronto.

The Royal York’s Imperial Room operated from the 1940s – 1990s, attracting some of the biggest names in entertainment to its exclusive nightclub. From Marlena Dietrich to Tina Turner, and a host of others in between, the Royal York was the finest place to spend an evening in Toronto.
