WWII Photos: A Soldier’s Perspective (Part 1)

March 4, 2019

We were fortunate to come across this large lot of photos documenting the life of one soldier and his buddies in the United States Army in and after World War II. He was stationed at Schofield Barracks on the island of Oahu, Hawaii in 1945, likely indicating his inclusion in the 25th Infantry Division (AKA Tropic Lightning) stationed there. He never identifies himself in his photo captions, but he does identify several other soldiers like his buddy, Elvin Phillips. I’ve grouped these photos into film serial number, and will be sharing his story in seven parts. Included are the captions as he wrote them when available (in italics), as well as some observations. These are some great photos, and I hope you’ll enjoy them!

If you spot any identifying clues or know some history behind any of the places or people please leave a comment!
